The World Beneath Our Feet
EPISODE 1 - Dying for Lawns and Food
When I first became a homeowner, I became obsessed with our lawn. Our neighbors all sported green lush lawns and ours was loaded with all sorts of weeds and dandelions. One of our friends, also lawn obsessed, recommended using a lawn care company as he did. That is when the nagging began to hire someone to transform our 'unsightly' lawn into a beautiful green carpet.
My husband always stood up saying that the birds and bunnies that lived in our yard would become ill and possibly die from the chemicals that are sprayed onto lawns to keep them weed and pest free.
Not wanting to be part of hurting bunnies and birds, I let it go.
Soon after, I became interested in photography again. I had a SLR camera in my younger years yet my interest waned however the new world of digital photography reignited my interest.
I began shooting macro, primarily photographing insects. Lying on the ground I began to see the vibrant and very alive world that existed. I began to notice the clover, dandelions and other flowering 'weeds' that the bees and other pollinators that fed upon. And then my opinion of chemical lawns changed.
Further episodes will be appearing on Youtube and shared across my social media platforms as well as here on my website. If you would like to be notified when the next episode is airing, please CONTACT ME. Thank you so much!
