My first impression of music was as a very young girl watching
television in the early 60's. I remember seeing Little Richard playing
live on stage. I was mesmerized by him.
His rocking style, his striking appearance and his makeup, yes I
remember noticing his makeup! Then, of course, The Beatles. I was
one of those
people who remember their debut on the Ed Sullivan show. Then came
along R&B. I grew up in an urban neighborhood and was lucky enough
to experience the whole Soul and R&B Motown explosion. Afterwards,
I listened to Led Zeppelin, Traffic, Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper, etc.
The biggest musical influences in my life are David Bowie, Marc Bolan
and
my beloved
Freddie
Mercury.
My current musical tastes are very broad. I am a huge fan
of Nine Inch Nails, Lyle Lovett and George Michael as well as listening
to Opera. I appreciate all kinds of music from Country to Rap,
Folk
to Classical, traditional latino and world, to my current love of eastern meditation chanting.
